The Mass Storage Unit is an airborne recording system, mounted in an F-16 electronic pod. It is a custom designed conduction cooled unit which is composed of two independent sub units:
ISU: for image recording
DSU: debug recording based on an SBC computer
The MSU includes removable Flash Disk cartridge which enables data analysis by an external system offline. In addition, an optional "Capacitor Bank" module can be attached to the MSU. This module enables the ISU unit to operate in cases of momentary power loss.
- Fanless conduction cooled system
- Embedded computer based on a low power CPU
- Flash-based, removable module for data recording
- Capacitor bank hold-up module (50 – 80 m/sec)
